A Sony LYTIA sensor will be included in OnePlus 12 to improve mobile photography

The eagerly anticipated OnePlus 12, the much-anticipated follow-up to the OnePlus 11, is becoming more and more awaited. With its upcoming flagship model set for delivery in early 2024, OnePlus has been keeping its fans curious by releasing some of its most important specs. Recently, the firm formally revealed information on the OnePlus 12’s camera configuration along with some eye-catching picture examples supplied by a senior executive.

With a major Weibo announcement, OnePlus revealed a ground-breaking collaboration with Sony that produced an amazing sensor that will be a part of the OnePlus 12. Known as the LYTIA dual-layer stacked CMOS sensor, this technological marvel is set to optimize light capture and transform mobile imaging. This innovation, according to OnePlus, will usher in “a new future for mobile imaging.”

Although the OnePlus 12’s camera configuration is still under cover, earlier rumors indicate that it would include a 48MP sensor with an ultra-wide telephoto lens (perhaps the Sony IMX581) in addition to a 50MP Sony IMX966 sensor. A 64MP OmniVision OV64B sensor with 3x optical zoom and hybrid zoom capabilities is also rumored to be included in the smartphone.

Li Jie Louis, the president of OnePlus, increased anticipation by posting camera samples taken with the OnePlus 12 on Weibo. Introducing them as “non-professional photography,” he displayed three stunning images of an unidentified coffee shop, all taken at different zoom settings and with the addition of a close-up to highlight certain elements.

The OnePlus 12 claims to give a robust performance in addition to its photographic abilities. It has been officially revealed that the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC powers the gadget. The DisplayMate A+ rated X1 “Oriental Screen,” which offers a 2K resolution and an amazing peak brightness of 2,600 nits, is another option for display enthusiasts.

The OxygenOS 14 operating system, which is based on Android 14, predicts that the OnePlus 12 will provide a smooth and modern software experience. With its large 5,400mAh battery and support for both 50W wireless charging and 100W cable fast charging, users can be connected and productive all day long.
