Interestingly, the Dodgers and Giants will meet in the postseason, and it arrives in a season when the two groups set establishment standard for triumphs. The 107-win Giants will play the 106-win Dodgers in the 2021 National League Division series starting Friday night at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
Los Angeles secured a NLDS billet against their opponents by beating the Cardinals on Wednesday in the NL special case game at Dodger Stadium. This is only the third time the Dodgers and Giants have made the postseason around the same time, and not at all like in 2014, this time LA moved beyond St. Louis.
Game 1 of the NLDS will begin at 6:37 p.m. PT, with Game 2 set for 6:07 p.m.. Start times for the remainder of the series have not yet been reported.
The Dodgers tied their 2019 group record with 106 successes, yet it wasn’t sufficient to win a 10th consecutive National League West crown. The Giants, who beat the Dodgers in each of the three series after all the All-Star break and won the season series against Los Angeles 10 games to nine, dominated 107 games, outperforming their group record set in New York in 1904.
Regardless of wrapping up with the second-best record in baseball, the Dodgers were consigned to a limited time offer trump card game.
“I think every one of the 106 games are out the window now. It didn’t assist us with winning the division, so it’s truly superfluous,” Mookie Betts said before Wednesday’s down. “We’re in the spot we are presently. We must play the hand we’re managed. It’s only one game. Same thing we’ve been doing the entire season.”
Walker Buehler will begin Game 1 of the NLDS on Friday for the Dodgers, with Julio Urías beginning Game 2 on Saturday.
Max Scherzer, who began the trump card game on Wednesday, wouldn’t begin until Game 3 on Monday at Dodger Stadium.
Monsters chief Gabe Kapler told columnists Wednesday that Logan Webb would begin Game 1 for San Francisco, with Kevin Gausman beginning Game 2. After that is TBD.
Each round of the NLDS will be broadcast by TBS, with Brian Anderson and Ron Darling on the call.
