Twin-cylinder CNG tanks launched for Tata Tiago and Tigor iCNG

With the introduction of the new twin-cylinder iCNG arrangement, Tata Motors has provided an innovative improvement to its well-liked models, the Tiago hatchback and Tigor sedan. For customers of environmentally aware cars, this technology, which was initially offered in the Altroz CNG, promises increased efficiency and usefulness. The business has set the starting price for the brand-new Tiago iCNG at Rs. 6.55 lakh, while the Tigor iCNG, the sedan version, starts at Rs. 7.80 lakh (ex-showroom).

The innovative twin-cylinder technology found in the new Tata Tiago iCNG and Tigor iCNG substitutes the conventional single, big 60-litre CNG cylinder with two equal halves that are mounted beneath the trunk floor. This ingenious layout greatly expands the boot space, which is a welcome enhancement for regular commuters looking for both practicality and environmental sustainability.

The hatchback is now offered in six different varieties, beginning with the Tata Tiago iCNG, each of which offers an alluring combination of features. Priced at Rs. 6,54,900 (ex-showroom), the entry-level Tiago iCNG XE is followed by the XM at Rs. 6,89,900 and the XT at Rs. 7,34,900. The pricing of the more expensive XZ+ is Rs. 8,09,900, while that of the XZ+ DT and XT NRG is Rs. 8,19,900 and Rs. 7,64,900, respectively. Furthermore, the XZ NRG model costs Rs. 8,09,900 (ex-showroom). Customers can select the model that best fits their interests and budget from among these several alternatives.

Moving on to the Tata Tigor iCNG, the sedan offers a variety of options to potential consumers with its four possible variations. The Tigor iCNG XZ is priced at Rs. 8,19,900, followed by the Tigor iCNG XM at Rs. 7,79,900 (ex-showroom). Priced at Rs. 8,84,900 for the XZ+ version and Rs. 8,94,900 for the XZ+ LP (ex-showroom), respectively. The Tigor iCNG versions, like the Tiago, are made to accommodate different customer preferences and needs.

The same 1.2-liter, three-cylinder petrol engine is included in both the Tata Tiago and Tigor iCNG variants, together with a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine’s outstanding output in petrol mode is 86 horsepower and a maximum torque of 113 Nm. The power output drops marginally to 73 hp but the peak torque remains at 95 Nm in the CNG mode. This guarantees smooth switching between fuel modes without compromising performance.

In other developments, Tata Motors has unveiled a brand-new and eagerly awaited CNG version of the well-liked Punch mini-SUV. Five different types of the recently released Tata Punch CNG are offered: Pure, Adventure, Adventure Rhythm, Accomplished, and Accomplished Dazzle S. These variations cost between Rs. 7.10 lakh and Rs. 9.68 lakh, which is between Rs. 95,000 and 1.60 lakhs more than its petrol-powered equivalents.

A 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine powers all Punch CNG models under the hood. The engine generates 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque while running on gasoline, and 73.4 PS and 103 Nm of torque when running on compressed natural gas. The 60-liter twin CNG tanks on the Punch CNG are equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The more premium Successful variants of the Punch CNG also offer a single-pane sunroof, which is currently absent from the petrol model. A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch TFT in the instrument panel, automatic temperature control, projector headlamps, and 16-inch alloy wheels are further shared features. Hyundai Exter CNG is a direct rival to the Punch CNG.
