With a lighter design, Apple Ultra watch 2

A trustworthy leaker with a track record of correct Apple predictions claims that the next Apple Watch Ultra 2 would have a lighter design than its predecessor.

The use of 3D-printed substitutes for some mechanical components made of titanium is one way to reduce weight.

The current Apple Watch Ultra weights 61.3g, which is significantly more than the 32.2g aluminum Apple Watch Series 8 in the 41mm size and the 42.3g and 51.5g stainless steel alternatives in the 45mm and 41mm sizes, respectively.

Setsuna Digital, the leaker who posted the information on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, didn’t give precise information about the Ultra Watch 2’s weight reduction. Though it’s speculated that the use of 3D printing technologies in the manufacturing process may have helped reduce weight.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reportedly stated in a recent Medium post that the company is actively integrating 3D printing into its production process and that some of the titanium mechanical parts of the Ultra 2 would be made using this technique. This information was provided by Tom’s Guide. Despite the possibility of additional finishing steps, 3D-printed mechanical parts are anticipated to increase production efficiency and save prices.
