Hugging Face Introduces Two Humanoid Robots in a New Era
Two new humanoid robots have been revealed by Hugging Face, a top platform for developing artificial intelligence (AI).The first is HopeJR, a life-size humanoid that can walk and move its arms thanks to its 66 actuated degrees of freedom (DoF).The second is the desktop Reachy Mini, which is perfect for testing AI apps because it can speak and move its head.
Timeline and Pricing
Clem Delangue, the CEO and co-founder of Hugging Face, explained that the company intends to start deploying the initial units of these robots before the end of this year. Depending on applicable tariffs, the Reachy Mini will cost between $250 and $300 per unit, while the HopeJR robot is anticipated to cost over $3,000 per unit.
The Open-Source Concept
Delangue underlined how crucial it is that these robots be open source so that everyone can put them together, rebuild them, and learn how they operate.
