From Aquarium Fish to Fashion Advice: Gemini Live can Interact with World using Pixel 9 and Galaxy S25 devices

Google is progressively launching its latest Gemini Live feature, an advanced upgrade to its conversational AI assistant that brings live camera input and screen sharing into the mix. Initially, this functionality is being introduced on select flagship smartphones, including the upcoming Pixel 9 series and Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy S25 models. A wider rollout to additional Android devices is planned through a free update. However, access to these high-end features is reserved for subscribers of Gemini Advanced, the premium tier that unlocks more powerful AI tools.
With the update installed on a compatible device, users will be able to launch the live camera tool with a simple tap. Once active, Gemini Live enables users to aim their phone’s camera at objects in their surroundings and ask intelligent, context-aware questions. Google demonstrated this in its April Pixel Drop video, showing how pointing the camera at an aquarium allows users to ask the assistant about specific fish, receiving detailed, real-time information in response.
Alongside the camera interaction, Gemini Live also includes a screen sharing function. This feature empowers users to share what’s displayed on their phone—like a shopping site, app, or webpage—and then engage with the AI assistant for deeper insights. Whether it’s comparing items, seeking product recommendations, or getting style advice, Gemini Live offers an enhanced and more personalized experience based on visual context.
Google spokesperson Alex Joseph recently confirmed that these features began appearing on users’ devices last month. Feedback from Reddit users suggests that the rollout has already reached a broader range of smartphones, including brands such as Xiaomi. Originally introduced during the May Google I/O conference under the umbrella of “Project Astra,” Gemini Live’s live camera and screen sharing abilities mark a major leap forward in AI interaction.
Available in 45 languages and launching in select regions, Gemini Live is designed for users aged 18 and older. The feature sets a new benchmark for real-time visual and interactive AI assistance across the Android ecosystem, blending advanced technology with intuitive user experiences.
