Today marks the start of the Shardiya Navratri festival, a nine-day celebration honouring Maa Durga and her nine forms.

A special meal for pilgrims travelling by rail during Navratri was announced by the Ministry of Railways on Sunday.

The tweet-based notification came from the Railway Ministry. The ‘Food on Track’ app can be used to order this special order, which will be available from September 26 to October 5.

“Indian Railways is offering you an unique menu from September 26 to October 5 to satisfy your demands for Vrat during the important holiday of Navratri. Visit ecatering.irctc.co.in, phone 1323, or download the “Food on Track” app to order Navratri treats for your train ride “the tweet from the Railway Ministry stated.

The first day of the nine-day Shardiya Navratri festival, which is dedicated to Maa Durga and her nine avatars, has arrived (Kalash or Ghatsthapna). Hindus across the nation enthusiastically celebrate the occasion.

There are many different ways to celebrate Navratri in India. North India hosts Ramlila celebrations, mostly in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh, during which episodes from the Ramayana are performed. The conclusion of the Vijayadashami narrative is marked by the burning of King Ravana’s effigies.
