Mini Mathur surprised fans recently by meeting Malaika Arora, Nikhil Chinapa, Cyrus Sahukar, Maria Goretti, Shenaz Treasurywala, Kunal Vijaykar, and Preeta Sukhtankar. They all gathered in Mumbai to celebrate the birthday of former MTV executive Seher Bedi. Mini also expressed their disappointment that their friends Cyrus Broacha, Amrita Arora, and Nafisa Joseph were unable to attend the event.
Mini shared a video of all of them having fun and posing for photos, as well as a glimpse of special themed cookies and a cake that read, “THE MTV OG’s ARE HERE.” Gaurav Kapur, a former Channel V VJ, also joined the MTV crew. Malaika also shared a photo of their lunch party group.
Mini wrote in the caption, “The coolest job any TV host in India could ever aspire to- being an MTV VJ at the turn of the century!” The original Veejays reunited today after years apart, though most of us have remained friends for life! And we realised… if you’ve always been the best, nothing changes! Thank you for bringing us together for a wild afternoon, @seherubedi and @tinagbedi! And, as we always did at MTV, we ended every show. Fans showered love on all of them in response to the video. “Childhood memories popped up watching you guys..lots of love for you guys,” one fan wrote in the comments section. “I’ve adored each of you since I was a child. A significant contributor to who I am today! “I am a Bangalore-based anchor who hosts events for a living,” said another. “Absolutely love this and miss the days so much,” someone else said.
Mini’s career began as an MTV VJ. Cyrus Sahukar, along with Malaika and Cyrus Broacha, were among the first video jockeys on Indian television in the 1990s. They were the hosts of popular shows such as Love Live, Style Check, The Big Picture, and MTV Bakra. Mini was most recently seen in Mind The Malhotras Season 2 alongside Cyrus Sahukar.
