Google hinted last month that a NotebookLM app would be released soon, and the AI research tool is now available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for mobile devices.

Google NotebookLM Mobile App Launch: Key Highlights

Launch Date

Google is going to debut a mobile version of its NotebookLM platform on May 20, 2025, for both Android and iOS devices.

Pre-launch Availability

The app listings are already live on the Play Store and Apple App Store, but downloads will not be available until the release day. Meanwhile, you can register your interest to be notified when the app becomes available.

Features & Functionality

The Google NotebookLM mobile app includes many of the same functionality as the web version.

Easy Notebook Creation

Its layout has been optimized for smartphones, with top tabs that let you arrange notebooks by Recent, Shared, Title, or Downloaded. A floating button at the bottom of the screen allows you to create new notebooks right from the home page.

Audio Overview Tool

Each notebook card has a play button that triggers the Audio Overview tool, which creates podcast-style summaries of your study, narrated by two AI hosts.

Real-time Interaction

Users can also attend these sessions and pose questions in real time.

Broad File and Source Support

NotebookLM, like the web version, supports uploading a variety of source sources, including PDFs, websites, videos, and copied text.

Tablet-optimized Interface

The program now supports tablets, providing a more expansive homescreen layout for larger monitors.

System-wide Integration

Furthermore, NotebookLM connects with the system share sheet, allowing users to easily add sources from other apps.
