Game Streaming is now possible on Xbox for users with their own Consoles

Microsoft has officially introduced a new cloud streaming feature that allows Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One users to stream select games they own directly from their console, without needing to download or install them. This new functionality is available exclusively to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, giving them quicker access to gaming while saving both storage space and time.

The main goal of this feature is convenience. Instead of waiting for massive downloads to complete, players can dive right into their favorite titles instantly. While this streaming option doesn’t cover every game, it currently supports over 100 popular titles. Notable examples include Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Animal Well, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Hogwarts Legacy, among others. Microsoft is expected to expand this list in the future, enhancing the variety of streamable content.

To find games that support streaming, players simply need to browse their game library and look for a small cloud icon next to compatible titles. This cloud symbol is also visible in the Xbox Store, making it easier to spot which games can be played immediately after purchase. Additionally, users can filter their search results to show only cloud-ready games.

Previously, Xbox users could already stream games on various non-console devices, including certain smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV sticks, and even Meta Quest VR headsets. The feature also functions on web browsers across platforms like PCs, tablets, and smartphones. A beta version of this console-based streaming rolled out late last year in December, and it is now becoming more widely available.

In another major update, Microsoft has confirmed that backward-compatible titles from the original Xbox and Xbox 360 generations can now be streamed using Remote Play across all supported devices. Although Remote Play has been removed from the official Xbox mobile app, it remains accessible through web browsers, ensuring players can still enjoy their retro favorites across multiple devices.
