1.What it’s about

Haikyuu is a popular Japanese anime. “Haikyuu” tr means volleyball in Japanese. A cartoon story about the life of a high school student, Shoyo Hinata, who loves a volleyball game after watching professional volleyball on TV. Although Shoyo has a short stature, he has practiced his sports skills. His goal is to become a professional volleyball player called “Little Giant”. When she was in high school, Shoyo joined forces with her old rival, Kageyama. Together, the teammates combine Kageyama’s wits in the game and Shoyo’s athletic prowess to become volleyball champions.

2. Creator

Haikyuu!! created, written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. Furudate was born in Iwate prefecture of Japan on March 7, 1983. Furudate played volleyball in junior high school and at the center. The volleyball and the love of drawing have drawn Furudate into character Shoyo and the anime Haikyuu !! It is not known whether Furudate is a man or a woman, but it is believed that the narrator is a woman. Furudate’s favorite volleyball players are Shigeru Aoyama and Yuta Yoneyama. His or her favorite series include Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece and TaiyÅ Matsumoto’s Tekkonkinkreet. Haruichi Furudate continues to work for Shueisha, Inc. as an illustrator and writer.

3. Development

The first one for Haikyuu !! The series was published in February 2012 by Shueisha, Inc. As of April 2018, 30 volumes have been published. The series is loved all over the world. There have been more than 28 million copies of the series sold in the United States. In 2014, the popular series was adapted into a TV show. Three seasons already aired.

4. Characters

Shoyo Hinata and Tobio Kageyama are the main characters in Haikyuu !!. Despite her short height and goal being the best, Shoyo learns the importance of teamwork in volleyball. Although a bit clumsy, Shoyo has good athletic ability and is very good at dancing, which he learned to improve. Known as the “King of the Field” in junior high, Tobio must strive to maintain his skills while entering High School and joining the volleyball team. 5. Karasuna High School volleyball team

Haikyuu !! High school itself is a character in stories and TV shows. Karasuno High School is the home ground for this amazing volleyball team. Karasuno means “crow”. The word “fly” appears on the volleyball team’s flag. This relates to the name of the school. The team was called “The Flying Crows” and then it was called the “Falling Crows”. This is because the Karasuna volleyball team got off to a strong start. The national team is great. However, then they started to decline. The team continues to work together to create new and successful playstyles again.

 

6. Popularity

Since the first publication, Haikyuu !! was immediately popular. The series is drawn to its realism and work of art. There is a moment of serious humor intertwined. Many characters involved. Along with the main characters, Shoyo and Tobio, other famous characters include Nishinoya Yuu and Tsukishima Kei.

7. Radio

Within a year of the first publication, it was clear Haikyuu !! has been popular with anime lovers. The series was broadcast on Sakiyomi Jum-Bang radio and aired in November 2012. It was then distributed via Shueisha’s Vomic web.

8. Television

Haikyuu !! The story was set into a TV show in April 2014. During the first season, we get to know Shoyo and find out why he was motivated to play volleyball in Middle School and followed by High School. We saw how he had to overcome his shortcomings and learned the value of teamwork. In season two we witness the pain of failure but also more maturity in the boys. The third part has more action and engaging games. The drama series has been made into a composite film and the three seasons have been aired on Japanese TV with English subtitles.
