Samsung Updates Older Flagship Models With A Restricted Set Of Galaxy AI Features

Select Galaxy AI features have been added to Samsung’s 2021 flagship devices, which include the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Galaxy Z Fold 3. The software upgrade has begun to roll out. But the only AI capabilities coming to these older handsets are Circle to Search with Google and Chat Assist.

Chat Assist has the ability to translate messages into thirteen other languages, and Circle to Search simplifies internet engagement with a single gesture, increasing user productivity.

The Galaxy S21 series is already receiving the update in Europe, and more territories should receive it shortly.

According to early rumours, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 would get the majority of the Galaxy AI features found on more recent models, such as the S24, S23, and S22 series. Samsung has clarified that this is untrue, and the Fold 3 will, like the S21 series and Flip 3, only be able to use Circle for Chat Assist and Search.

Users of the Fold 3, who were hoping for more AI functions based on past rumours, are disappointed by this revelation. However, users of the S21 and Flip 3 will be happy to hear that in addition to Circle to Search, they will also be receiving Chat Assist.

Galaxy AI features have been extended to the S23 series, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Tab S9 series after they were first unveiled with the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year. Samsung declared last month that these capabilities would also be available in early May for the S22 series, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, and Tab S8 series.
