WhatsApp Introduces AI-Powered Chat Summaries for Private Messages

A new tool on WhatsApp that uses Meta AI to summarize your private conversations is now available. Users can view a brief, bulleted summary of missed discussions by tapping a button, which makes it easier to catch up fast rather than browsing through unread messages.
English-language support is part of the feature’s initial rollout in the United States. Later this year, more languages and nations will be able to access it.
The Meta-owned company WhatsApp explained that its AI message summaries are optional and that they are disabled by default. Private Processing in the app is meant to hide your interactions with its AI model by establishing a “secure cloud environment,” which keeps your summaries hidden from WhatsApp and Meta. The message summaries won’t be visible to other members of the group chat either.
