WhatsApp Improves iOS with Instagram Integration & Chat Themes

WhatsApp has been developing chat themes for a while. There may soon be a new feature on WhatsApp for iOS that allows users to add links to their Instagram profiles to their accounts. This update may make connecting across Meta’s platforms easier for users by doing away with the requirement to exchange links one at a time.
WhatsApp Feature Release Date
A month later, in October 2024, Meta made the opportunity to choose beta testers available after the feature was initially noticed in September 2024. After four months, WhatsApp is now allowing you to add extra colour to your talks by introducing Chat themes to the stable channel.
The capability is now being tested, according to sources, even though WhatsApp has not yet confirmed a release date.
WhatsApp Makes it Possible To
It is expected that the feature, which allows users to add their Instagram handle, would show up in the profile settings to enable cross-platform networking. This could be helpful for companies, influencers, and content creators that want to promote their Instagram accounts.
By combining Instagram and WhatsApp, Meta would achieve its goal of creating a more connected digital experience.
What is the Functionality of the New chat Theme Feature?
In contrast to other Meta apps like Instagram and Messenger, WhatsApp has always allowed users to customise their conversation background, but the colours of the text bubbles have remained constant. With the latest update, the wallpaper and bubble colour will change in accordance with the new shade selected as the default chat theme.
You can use a photo from your collection or one of the pre-installed wallpapers to modify the background of a discussion on WhatsApp. Different chat themes are available, and for even more personalisation, you may alter the colour of the conversation bubbles in addition to the background. There are eight chat themes available, but you can alter them to make them more unique.
Users Might be Able to Add Instagram links on WhatsApp
According to a WhatsApp feature tracker, the instant messaging service is developing a feature that would enable users to add links to their Instagram accounts. It was found in the WhatsApp for iOS beta software, version 25.2.10.72, which is available via the TestFlight test program.
The new option will be available in the Links section of the user profile screen. The Add Links option in this area now allows users to add their Instagram username by tapping a plus sign.
Despite only reportedly supporting Instagram links, WhatsApp may eventually expand its functionality to enable users to add other Meta accounts, like as Facebook and Threads.
WhatsApp Keeps Getting Better
Meta deserves praise for continuously improving and testing the WhatsApp texting experience. It was observed working on three major app enhancements last month: allowing photos to be contributed to polls in Channels, centralising all creation tools under the Chats tab, and displaying favicons next to web link previews in message bubbles.
