On Monday, SpaceX is getting ready to launch a Falcon 9 rocket that will carry 21 Starlink satellites from Florida into low Earth orbit.

Timetable:

The launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station’s Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) is scheduled at 3:22 p.m.

If the main launch window is missed, there is a backup window until 6:21 p.m., then there is another window on Tuesday starting at 2:50 p.m.

In terms of numbers:

The rocket’s first stage, which has previously supported a number of missions, including CRS-26, SXM-9, and ten Starlink launches, is making its 20th flight. The first stage will return to a droneship called “A Shortfall of Gravitas,” which is based in the Atlantic Ocean, after its mission is over.

Starlink satellites: what are they?

Why this is important:

Using low Earth orbit to deliver broadband internet services, Starlink is the world’s first and largest constellation of satellites. Video conferencing, internet gaming, and continuous streaming are all made possible by it.

With the utilisation of cutting-edge satellites and user gear, as well as substantial experience in spacecraft and orbital operations, Starlink ensures that users worldwide have access to fast, low-latency internet.
