Social media influencer Andrew Tate has been barred from Facebook and Instagram.

According to Meta, the controversial influencer Andrew Tate has been barred from Facebook and Instagram as of Friday.

Tate, 35, was removed from both platforms as a result of him disobeying Meta’s rules regarding harmful groups and people, said Meta. According to the BBC, the former professional kickboxer had 4.7 million Instagram followers before the ban.

Tate said he doesn’t really know why he was banned from the platforms, but he trusts “due process” during a Twitch stream with well-known streamer Adin Ross.

I’m not furious with them in any way, he declared. “I don’t feel like I lost much. I don’t use it very frequently. But I can see where they’re coming from.”

Andrew Tate stated on Adin Ross’ Twitch show that he supposedly has no idea why his Instagram and Facebook account photos were banned today.

Tate originally gained notoriety when competing on “Big Brother (U.K.)” in 2016, when he was kicked off the programme due to a video that claimed to show him assaulting a woman. According to the BBC, he said that the footage was manipulated and “a pure fake attempting to make me appear terrible.”

Since then, he has gained notoriety throughout the world for espousing misogynistic beliefs and disparaging women on many venues. He was suspended from Twitter in 2017 after making one of his contentious remarks, which was that women “have culpability” for being sexually attacked. At the same time, numerous charges against disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein were surfacing. He has even described how a man should have “control” over a woman he is dating and has labelled women as being “intrinsically lethargic.”

He has recently emerged as a towering figure to viewers on TikTok and YouTube, two platforms that are incredibly well-liked with teenagers.

CBS News learned Friday that a Tate-related account on TikTok has been permanently blocked, but the business claims it is continuing to step up enforcement against videos in which Tate espouses abhorrent ideas. Those videos were posted by several accounts. On TikTok, videos featuring the hashtag #andrewtate have received almost 13 billion views.

A company spokeswoman told CBS News in a statement that “Misogyny is a vile ideology that is not permitted on TikTok.” We continue to remove violative accounts and videos while looking into ways to reinforce our enforcement, including our detection methods, against this type of content. Our investigation into this content is ongoing.”
