Meta and Prada Collaborate on High-End AI Smart Glasses

Prada, a high-end Italian fashion brand, is collaborating with Meta on a pair of AI smart glasses. The public release date for Meta’s Prada smart eyewear is yet unknown.
Meta is moving beyond its current alliance with the massive eyewear company EssilorLuxottica to broaden its AI smart glasses strategy by working with Prada. Although EssilorLuxottica does not own Prada, the two have collaborated on eyewear for many years and recently extended their collaboration.
Meta’s growing concept for smart eyewear with AI
Meta intends to expand its AI smart glasses technology beyond EssilorLuxottica and its several brands, as seen by the reported partnership with Prada. This follows the Ray-Ban Meta AI smart glasses’ popularity, which saw millions of units sold. Meta also alluded to a collaboration with Oakley, another EssilorLuxottica brand, earlier this week. The Oakley smart glasses, which are anticipated to cost about $360, may be unveiled as early as Friday.
It is thought that the Oakley Meta smart glasses have functions that are comparable to those of the RayBan ones, including text messaging, voice-activated calls, livestreaming, taking pictures and videos, playing music, and integrating with Meta AI through the “Hey Meta” speech prompt. The Oakley glasses, in contrast to the Ray-Ban model, might also have a camera positioned in the middle, which is said to improve field of vision for sports like bikers.
