Mercedes-AMG Unveils Its Most Powerful EV Yet: A 1,360hp Electric Supercar

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT XX concept supercar has been revealed. The four-door sedan is a sneak peek at the AMG brand’s upcoming electric vehicle that will go into series. The vehicle can achieve speeds of more than 360 km/h and has a maximum power output of 1,360 horsepower. Additionally, it can increase its range by almost 400 kilometers with only five minutes of charge.
The Mercedes-AMG GT XX concept is a sporty sedan with rear doors for additional functionality and a coupe-like silhouette. Its striking orange color, which is evocative of the C111 experimental test cars from the 1970s, draws attention to its contemporary design. The automobile regrettably lacks the amazing gullwing doors but has round taillights that resemble those on radical prototypes.
Performance and luxury are the main themes of the Mercedes-AMG GT XX concept’s interior. It has a dual-display configuration, body-hugging front seats, and a steering wheel taken from the F1-powered AMG One hypercar. The touchscreen has a wider 14-inch diagonal than the instrument cluster, which is 10.25 inches in size. Although they might not be included in production models, illuminated orange tubes draw attention to the car’s exposed body structure.
In collaboration with British electric motor expert YASA, the Mercedes-AMG GT XX concept is propelled by a tri-motor arrangement including axial flux motors. The vehicle has a horsepower of 1,360 and a top speed of 360 km/h. With a three-motor powering the front and two powering the rear axle, this family-friendly supercar has all-wheel drive. For rear-wheel-drive behavior, the front motor decouples when additional traction is not required.
The 114kWh battery of the Mercedes-AMG GT XX concept has an NCMA (nickel, cobalt, manganese, and aluminum) chemistry. It runs at more than 800 volts and features a novel design with cylindrical cells. Over 850kW of peak charging power is supported by the system. With a drag coefficient of only 0.198, the vehicle is among the most aerodynamic sedans ever produced.
