Allan Border medal won by Travis Head for the first time

Travis Head clinched his first-ever Allan Border Medal at the 2025 Australian Cricket Awards, marking a significant milestone in his career. Head secured a commanding total of 208 votes, finishing well ahead of his closest competitors, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins, by 50 and 61 votes, respectively. The prolific batter showcased his versatility across all three formats, accumulating an impressive 1,427 runs throughout the year, which included four remarkable centuries. His exceptional performances also earned him the prestigious Men’s ODI Player of the Year award, surpassing wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey in the race.

Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood’s outstanding form in Test cricket saw him claim the Shane Warne Test Player of the Year accolade. The fast bowler scalped 30 wickets at an astonishing average of just 13.17, further cementing his status as a formidable force in red-ball cricket. In the shorter format, Adam Zampa was recognized for his impactful performances and was named the Men’s T20I Player of the Year.

On the women’s side, rising all-rounder Annabel Sutherland enjoyed a stellar year, culminating in her winning the prestigious Belinda Clark Award for the first time. Her outstanding performances with both bat and ball were highlighted by a memorable century in the one-off Ashes Test against England, along with a brilliant 210-run knock against South Africa in a Test match at the end of the previous season. In total, she amassed 798 runs across formats at a strong average of 46.94 while also contributing with 34 wickets. Sutherland edged past Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney to secure the honor, with Gardner earning the Women’s ODI Player of the Year award for her all-round brilliance—scoring 385 runs and taking 23 wickets. Mooney’s consistency in the shortest format saw her win the Women’s T20I Player of the Year award after accumulating 618 T20I runs at an impressive average of 47.53 and a strike rate of 129.83.

Additionally, Glenn Maxwell and Cooper Connolly shared the honor of being named BBL Player of the Tournament, highlighting their impactful performances in the domestic league. On the women’s side, star all-rounders Ellyse Perry and Jess Jonassen were jointly crowned WBBL Player of the Tournament, further underscoring their dominance in the competition.
